Project Report: Implementation of a Dismantling System for Used Automotive Catalytic Converters

Introduction

We are continuously working on new solutions for waste management. Recently, we completed a significant project for a client, focusing on the design and implementation of a modern system for dismantling used automotive catalytic converters.

Project Description

The core of this project was the development of an efficient dismantling system. This system is capable of disassembling used automotive catalytic converters into their components, preparing the valuable materials for the next stages of processing.

Key Features of the Dismantling System

  • The system is equipped with a powerful alligator shear, which precisely cuts the catalytic converters, making the ceramic core inside easily accessible. After separation, the ceramic is sent for grinding, and the metal casing is disposed of.
  • The ground material is reduced to a specific particle size, preparing it for the subsequent steps.
  • Special containers hold the ground material, which can either be placed in a mixing device or on a transfer station, facilitating the next stages of the process.
  • The entire system is equipped with a robust extraction unit that protects the operator from harmful dust released during the process. Additionally, it collects dust rich in precious metals, which can be recycled, offering an added economic benefit.

Results and Outlook:

The project was successfully completed, providing our client with a state-of-the-art facility that allows for the efficient and environmentally friendly dismantling of used automotive catalytic converters. With the implementation of this dismantling system, the client is now able to recycle valuable materials from end-of-life vehicles and prepare them for reuse. We are proud to be part of this groundbreaking project and look forward to continuing our efforts in developing and implementing innovative solutions for the waste management industry.
